carl-sagan-dvd-set.jpg Dr. Carl Sagan was a professor at Cornell University as well as a consultant and adviser to NASA since the 1950’s. He briefed the Apollo astronauts before their flights to the Moon, and was an experimenter on the Mariner, Viking, Voyager, and Galileo expeditions to the planets. Dr. Sagan received many awards throughout his career including the NASA medals for Exceptional Scientific Achievement and (twice) for Distinguished Public Service, as well as the NASA Apollo Achievement Award, and the John F. Kennedy Astronautics Award.

The late Dr. Sagan’s series Cosmos attempts to deepen our understanding of how we got from there to here. Sagan shows viewers the farthest reaches of space and journeys back into the history of scientific inquiry, from the ancient library of Alexandria to NASA’s exploration of Earth’s neighboring planets.
